Wolves or Dire Wolves (Canis dirus) are canines that appear occasionally in the Turok franchise. They feature infrequently in the comics as inhabitants of the Lost Land and were originally slated to appear in Turok: Evolution, but were cut for unknown reasons.
Appearance
The wolves and dire wolves featured in Turok appear much like grey wolves of today, including coat color, eye color, and general anatomy. The key difference is their enormous size.
Like many animals in the Turok franchise, the wolves and dire wolves of the Lost Land are greatly oversized. In Turok, Son of Stone the dire wolves are said to be twice the size of their real life counterparts, while those in Valiant's Turok: Dinosaur Hunter appear roughly double that again. The wolves slated to appear in Turok: Evolution, however, would have been correctly sized.
