Turok: Evolution manual[1]

The Shotgun is a firearm that fires a shell that contains many small pellets inside of it. Throughout the Turok franchise, the Shotgun has made several appearances, typically being the second firearm the player obtains.

Turok: Dinosaur HunterEdit

The Shotgun's appearance, as well as the type of Shotgun, has differed throughout the series. The first incarnation in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a typical pump-action Shotgun with a wooden stock. Unlike some weapons in the Turok series, it does not have a futuristic/high-tech look.

Turok 2: Seeds of EvilEdit

In this incarnation, the weapon is a double-barreled Shotgun, the only other difference being that the barrels are longer than its predecessor's, along with it being slightly more effective.

This Shotgun can be upgraded to the Shredder.

Turok: Rage WarsEdit

This version of the Shotgun more closely resembles the Auto Shotgun, yet is a pump-action Shotgun. It retains the revolver-style mechanism of the Auto Shotgun and can be pumped several times to fire quicker, subsequent shots.

Turok 3: Shadow of OblivionEdit

The Shotgun appears once more in the third installment of the Turok series. The weapon's barrels are slightly shorter than before, yet it remains a double-barreled Shotgun.

Turok: EvolutionEdit

This incarnation of the Shotgun has the same revolver mechanism as the Shotgun from Rage Wars. It is much more futuristic looking and has a silver color to it. A number of the Suspended City marines can be seen brandishing this weapon.

It can be upgraded with the quad-shot barrel, allowing the player to pump four times as many shots, earning it the name "Quad Shotgun."

Turok: Dinosaur HunterEdit

The Shotgun found in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is treated as the first two-handed gun found. As such, it is a very basic pump-action weapon and can prove to be effective against most enemies.

The weapon has two ammunition types: Explosive shells and Buckshot shells.

Explosive shells will kill most enemies in a single shot, the exception being large enemies like the Pur-Lin and High Priest/Demon Lord. The explosive shells can be used to take out some enemies from range without being exposed to them.

Buckshot shells are, for the most part, effective against human enemies like Poachers, Ancient Warriors, and Demon minions. Their biggest drawback is the scatter effect. When fired, buckshot shells will spread, dealing less damage the farther away the target is. Buckshot shells are best used during close range combat.

Turok 2: Seeds of EvilEdit

The weapon returns in the sequel to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. It is now much more powerful and is likely to be used throughout the game. The weapon is still a pump-action Shotgun (despite being a double-barreled Shotgun).

It is now capable of dismemberment (due to Seeds of Evil's dismemberment system) and can take down most Dinosoids with two shots. This gun is great against the Deadkin, Purr-Linn War Clubs/Gunners, Mantid Drones, Raptors, and Fireborn.

Like its predecessor, it can fire Explosive shells and Buckshot shells. A new, useful feature introduced in the game is being able to switch between explosive shells and buckshot shells on the fly by tapping up on the Nintendo 64's directional pad.

Turok: Rage WarsEdit

The Shotgun is available for use again in this multiplayer-based entry of the Turok series. It remains largely unchanged, save for a few new features. It is no longer required to be loaded with shells, since the weapon is part of the Bullet Group.

The weapon now has a new secondary function called "Street Sweeper" that replaces the explosive shells. This function pumps the Shotgun four extra times and releases four powerful shots. If all hits land successfully on an enemy, it will be an instant kill, but it uses 48 rounds as a result. The Street Sweeper is unlocked in Single Player mode by beating the "Wicked Dance" level with the Lord of the Dead.

The weapon is quite useful overall, its only fault being that it consumes six bullet rounds per shot, so ammo must be used wisely.

Turok 3: Shadow of OblivionEdit

The Shotgun appears once more, this time being even more effective and proving to be useful even in later levels. The weapon is still a double-barreled Shotgun and is noticeably faster than its predecessors. It is again obtained in the first chapter of the game.

The Shotgun is still capable of dismemberment but is less graphic and violent when compared to Seeds of Evil's violence. The weapon still works great on standard enemies like Stryders, Oblivion Hounds, and Human Zombies, with these enemies only taking one shot each to kill. It still does not work well at long distances but will work at mid-range better than its previous forms.

Its ammo capacity is significantly increased from its last two incarnations, with a maximum of 70 shells. Unlike its predecessors, the weapon no longer carries explosive shells. These have been replaced with the weapon's upgrades (Shredder for Joseph, Fireswarm for Danielle).

Turok: EvolutionEdit

The explosive shells have again been dropped in favour of a new upgrade: the Quad Shot. Once upgraded, the shotgun can be loaded with up to four additional shells (similar to the Rage Wars Shotgun's secondary function), being able to take down most enemies with a single load and severely wounding large Sleg enemies.
