"You'll never be that good... Congratulations, Turok, you're now a member of Wolf Pack."
—Roland Kane, upon allowing Joseph Turok into Wolf Pack

Roland Kane is the former leader of Wolf Pack and the main antagonist of Turok.

History[]

Turok[]

Sometime before the events of Turok, Kane had recruited Joseph Turok, along with possibly several other military prisoners, into Wolf Pack. As the leader of Wolf Pack, Kane would train Turok and would be assisted by his right hand man John Grimes.

Kane would teach Turok the ways of which Kane interpreted Turok's tribe, the Kiowa Indians. Some time after Turok's training in Wolf Pack was complete, Kane would lead him and Wolf Pack on a mission into Colombia, where he killed a young girl without mercy. Her death caused Turok to abandon Wolf Pack. Eventually Kane and John Grimes left Wolf Pack to work as mercenaries for the Mendel-Gruman Corporation.

Kane would work for Mendel-Gruman on a planet in the process of being terraformed. He would look for ways the animals on the planet could be used as biological weapons. This eventually lead to the discovery of the Soldier Bugs. The accidental discovery of their toxin as a bio-weapon would make Kane use it as an experiment to kill several dozen MG soldiers.

Eventually Kane's crimes lead to the military ordering Whiskey Company to bring him in. Eventually Whiskey Company found Kane on the terraformed planet, but as they went to capture him they were shot down by a rocket. Throughout Whiskey Company's attempt to escape the planet, Kane would order MG soldiers to find and kill any survivors.

At some point he decided to give Turok a second chance to join him and Mendel-Gruman. When Turok refused, Kane sought to kill everybody. Eventually MG soldiers caught the remains of Whiskey Company as they attempted to leave the planet with a Mendel-Gruman Type 07 Starship. During their capture Kane would kill Cowboy before Whiskey Co.'s bombs would detonate. Shortly after, Kane would get into an MG ship of the same make as the one Whiskey attempted to use and attempt to kill Turok before having it get shot down by the latter.

Death[]

After surviving the destruction of his ship, Kane would meet Turok face to face and attempt to kill him in a knife fight. After a few grueling minutes of swiping, stabbing, countering, and blocking, Turok gained the upper hand and shoved the knife's blade deep into Kane's chest, killing him.

Trivia[]

  • Kane gave Turok the scar on his left cheek during a knife training exercise.
  • Kane taught Turok how to use the knife and bow.
  • The character of Kane was inspired by Marlon Brando's Colonel Walter E. Kurtz, the main antagonist of the 1979 movie Apocalypse Now.[1]
