The Razor Wind is a weapon that first appears in Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. It is a throwing chakram that has a function similar to that of a boomerang.

Appearance

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

The Razor Wind first appears as a steel chakram. It has several blades that surround its central grip. These blades constantly rotate when its wielded.

Once thrown, the weapon spins towards its target and returns to its owner. If the hit is successful, then the Razor Wind will return with blood stains.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion

The weapon returns and is available to both Danielle and Joseph Fireseed. The Razor Wind is noticeably smaller in size and now only sports three blades. Its function remains unchanged, and it retains its circular shape.

Gameplay

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

The Razor Wind can prove to be of great use. It can be thrown to great distances and can take down most enemies with one or two hits. Once thrown, the Razor Wind will fly in a straight path and bounce off any walls it hits or enemies it slices. After about three seconds, the weapon will return to the player.

Throwing this weapon up close can hit enemies easily, but if the player were to miss, they would be left open for an enemy to attack. It can prove to be more effective than the War Blade against bigger enemies.

Players must be cautious with their aiming as a bad throw can sometimes get the weapon stuck behind a wall. This causes a delay and will put the player in danger of an attack while they are waiting for the weapon to return.

This weapon is recommended if the player wishes to conserve ammo or if the player has the element of surprise.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion

The weapon returns in this Turok sequel, this time obtained much earlier in the game than before. Its functionality remains the same with the major difference being that it now returns to the player much more quickly. As a takeaway, its flying distance has been slightly decreased from its last form.

Overall this weapon can still prove to be effective against Forsaken Warriors, Oblivion Spawn Grunts, Voodoo Priests, and other enemies.

Trivia

  • When the Razor Wind is thrown at a Mantid, it still returns with red blood stains despite the fact that Mantids bleed green blood.
    • This error was fixed in Shadow of Oblivion.
  • When the player tosses the weapon, Joshua Fireseed's hand is visible but his thumb is missing.
    • This error was also fixed in Shadow of Oblivion.
  • While it did not appear in Turok: Rage Wars, a similar tri-bladed weapon, the Boomerang, was available for use.
