For similarly named creatures and enemies, see Purr-Linn (disambiguation).

The Purr-Linn are a race of brutal, ape-like creatures, that appear frequently in the Turok universe.

History

The Purr-Linn see humans as weak insects and resent the progress the humans have made throughout the centuries. In Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, a type of Purr-Linn worked together with the Campaigner in his quest to find the Chronoscepter.

In Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, the Purr-Linn were fooled by the Primagen into believing he would give the Lost Land to them if they helped free him. Even though his real plan was to eventually wipe them out, he armed them with limited reserves of weaponry and ammunition.

Warrior Caste

  • War Club: The mainstay of the Purr-Linn. What they lack in intelligence they make up for in pure strength.
  • Gunner: Deployed as mobile sentries and snipers, these Purr-Linn carry a gatling gun that fires baseball-sized rocks.
  • Juggernaut: The elite of the Purr-Linn, they view themselves as a triumph of evolution and will not hesitate to kill their own brethren.

Wildlife

  • Swamp Wasp: Large wasps which will attack the player if they get too close to the hive. They will also turn on each other if they feel like it.
  • Cave Worm: Large worms usually found guarding passages in the mud. They will attack the player using their tongue.

Cut Content

Cut from the final game, these enemies are still referenced in Iguana's official design documents:

  • Catapult: Small Purr-Linn meant to guard watchtowers and attack the player using large boulders fired from their catapult.
  • Mial-Kaa: Large, bulky, and dangerous, this enemy was to be immune to conventional weaponry. To kill it, the player would have to flip the beast with a grenade and then use something else on the soft underbelly of the beast.
  • Hooper: Would act the same as the Mantid Mites and would swarm the player.
  • Chieftain: A bigger version of the Juggernaut that would have acted as a boss.
