Dual wielding is a gameplay feature present specifically in Propaganda Games' 2008 title, Turok.

Description[]

Dual wielding involves the player utilizing two weapons instead of the traditional one. Only certain weapon types can be held, and while they are being dual-wielded, the player cannot aim down the sights. However, the weapons can utilize their secondary features and can also be manually reloaded.

Grenades cannot be used during this time, as the button they are usually thrown by is taken over by the secondary weapon's alternate firing mode. Finally, while being used, the weapon's reticle will either remain the same, if both weapons are the same, or it will change to a rounded, wider reticle.

In gameplay, dual wielding can easily give the player an advantage over another player that is using only one weapon. It effectively doubles the damage dealt, and while it does not increase the player's rate of fire, the overall firepower is doubled. This can result in very quick kills, especially with weapons such as the ORO Enforcer Shotgun or ORO FP9 SMG.

That being said, it is possible to use two entirely different weapons simultaneously. This can create many combos, such as the Enforcer and the SMG, or the SMG and the ORO HOG 9mm Handgun.

While the advantages of this gameplay feature are prevalent, there are no noticeable downsides. The player's movement speed is not hampered, and the reticle is not changed for the worse. Grenades are not usable, though the abundance of firepower makes up for the lack of explosive power available.
